Welcome to Homestay Delhi

The name Delhi brings to mind the pomp and glory of India’s yester years. Delhi, standing on the sacred Yamuna river, consists of seven smaller towns, each being built and rebuilt by various dynasties that ruled it. From Mehrauli to Shahjahanabad, there are little clusters of communities and towns within this big metro.

India’s capital is broadly divided into New Delhi and Old Delhi. The fact that it has many cities within itself – pilgrimage centres,
medieval cities, seat of kings, colonial capital and many villages – is one of the charms of Delhi. Old Delhi’s quaint streets, mosques, palaces and forts make for an interesting day trip. In fact, many tour agencies offer a round of the Old city on the metro. Indians and foreign nationals take this tour of the city in hoards, everyday.

Delhi has been and still is the scene of many political, administrative and cultural upheavals. It has seen riots, revolts andrevolutions. But each one of them adds to the city’s charm as an all-inclusive, all-encompassing mother city.

Delhi has many places of historical importance. Being the capital of India, it has many important buildings, embassies and offices, too. Monuments, museums, art galleries, posh malls… you name it, it’s here! Oh, don’t forget the rickshaw and tonga rides! They might be cramped and smelly at times, but the rides are worth it. No other mode of transport will ensure the sights and sounds of the city like they do.

Delhi is a major tourist destination. Flights and trains connect it to the rest of India. International flights link Delhi with other parts
of the world. Buses, rickshaws and taxis will take tourist to any part of the city or around.
